Whether it’s a Mommy & Me class or the highest levels of Tap and Jazz, there are dance classes for kids at every stage. Here is our guide to Dance Classes for Kids, including descriptions of different styles of classes!
Dance Classes for Kids allow them to be active while expressing themselves artistically. Typically, classes will start with one of our skilled instructors leading a warmup consisting of stretches and exercises. Then, students will learn different techniques that apply to the style they are learning. As their technique improves, students will be able to progress into the next level of classes. At the end of a year of classes, students are encouraged to participate in a Studio Recital where they showcase everything they have learned over the year.
From Jazz to Tap to Ballet, each style of dance offers something unique for each student! We recommend that beginning students start with Jazz or Ballet, and then after some time and experience, venture into other genres like Tap, Swing, Contemporary, and Modern. Read more below about each style of dance.

Recommended for every level of dancer, Jazz Dance classes develop strength, flexibility, and coordination. Jazz Dance is especially helpful for Musical Theatre dancers who are looking to improve their ability to pick up choreography quickly.

Tap Dance involves percussive sounds produced by shoes with “taps” on the toe and heel. By using these taps, dancers create complex sounds and movements.. Tap Dance classes develop endurance, core strength, and rhythmic coordination.

Ballet is the foundation of all other dance styles. Ballet Classes focus on proper alignment, increasing flexibility, and balance. Ballet Classes also introduce students to the French terminology that describes technique and movements.

Developed in the 1920s alongside swing style jazz music, swing dance classes introduce students to partner dancing. Swing Dance classes focus on musicality, dips, and tricks, and create a foundation for any type of partner dancing on stage.

Contemporary and Modern Dance Classes incorporate classic ballet techniques through a free flowing interpretive style. Contemporary and Modern Dance classes focus on improvisation and flexibility.
