What theater classes are good for elementary school students?

Theater classes for elementary schoolers should focus on growing their confidence and skills!

Acting Classes for elementary schoolers focus on projection, diction, creative problem solving, and ensemble work. Vocal Classes for elementary schoolers focus on pitch matching, breathing technique, tone production, and confidence in solo and ensemble singing. Dance Classes for elementary schoolers focus on improving flexibility, strength, and rhythm skills.

You can also take a Musical Theatre Class that covers all three skills as well to give elementary school students a good foundation in acting, singing, and dancing. Here at the beginning of their theater journey, find a class that helps them build their confidence while having fun!

What can elementary school students learn in performing arts classes?

When elementary school students are in performing arts classes, they are building their confidence through acting, dancing, and singing skill development. Elementary school students also build teamwork skills by telling a story with their peers through movement and song. As classes become more structured, they start to absorb more terminology and technique as well. 

What is a good age to start theater?

Elementary School is a great time to start exploring theater and the performing arts. Whether attending performances or enrolling in a class, elementary school students can benefit from learning about the world of theater. By starting in beginner level classes, they will build their creative foundation amongst their peers.

What happens at theater class?

First and foremost, we have a ton of fun at theater classes!

Students develop their acting, singing, and dancing skills in classes with experienced professionals.

We have beginner level classes for students of all ages as well as intermediate and advanced classes for our older students.

We also have options for students to explore the tech side of theater through our Apprenticeship Program.

What if my child doesn’t know anyone?

We encourage a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere where kids will meet new friends. With plenty of new faces and small class sizes, students quickly feel like they belong and have the opportunity to make friends right away.

2 Classes – $50 Off

3 Classes – $75 Off

4+ Classes – $100 Off

Daytime Academy and Private Acting and Vocal Lessons are excluded from this discount. Discounts will be automatically applied when you enroll online.

While we think our tuition is a great value, we understand that it can be a daunting amount, especially for families that have multiple children in the program. What is your cancellation/refund policy?

You may drop a class through the first week of the class session and receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. After the conclusion of the first class week, no refunds will be given.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer any credits/refunds/make-ups/pro-rated fees for missed days of class. 

Private Lessons can be made up at the instructor’s discretion.

Do you have to be a Christian to come to First Act?

No. First Act Theatre Arts holds to Christian values of family, community, leadership, and positive encouragement. We welcome all kids of varying faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs.

What if my child has a disability?

First Act Theatre Arts openly welcomes children with disabilities. Further, First Act proudly offers our HEART program (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theatre). Please let us know what we can do to help!  Before classes begin, you will want to fill out the HEART application and support form. First Act will work with you to assist your child.  Please give us as much information as possible so we can make your child’s experience successful.
