FUGITIVE SONGS

April 10-11 at TCH Stage and Studio at Oak Park Mall

Music by CHRIS MILLER | Lyrics by NATHAN TYSEN

Award-winning songwriters Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen’s Fugitive Songs is a 19-song journey across America. This innovative song cycle, conceived as half-musical/half-hootenanny, spotlights people on the run. Fugitive Songs shares the stories of people who find connection and clarity, and how their lives and histories unexpectedly intertwine.

Blending traditional folk music with contemporary pop and gospel, Fugitive Songs offers a new sound for a restless America. This eclectic score provides exceptional material for a wide range of experienced singers, and delivers poignant and thought-provoking lyrics that capture each character’s “reasons to run.”

Run time of Fugitive Songs is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with no intermission.

Spider’s Web Director’s Letter

We are likely all familiar with the standard motifs of a murder mystery, particularly those of the revered Agatha Christie (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mousetrap, And Then There Were None, etc.) and Spider’s Web is certainly no exception. As with any mystery you will be familiar with certain character tropes, plot devices, and a great many clues to piece together, but there is certainly always a deeper level to dive into. This show investigates themes of truth, justice, underestimating those around you, belief in yourself, and the impacts of storytelling- for better or for worse.

Praying with Hope for the Future

At First Act Theatre Arts, we are excited and prayerfully looking forward, with abundant hope, that our next home is becoming a reality. Throughout the next year of our Capital Campaign, it is imperative that we make this journey rooted in Christ and the purposes created for us.

High School Musical Jr. Director’s Letter

First Act’s Middle School Overnight Camp is always my favorite week of the summer. When I heard that High School Musical Jr. was our show this year, somehow my excitement for this week grew exponentially. My first camp experience with First Act was a High School Musical summer camp when I was five years old, and I cannot comprehend that I am now directing the musical with the same organization!
