Guys and Dolls Jr. Director's Letter

Set in the bustling streets of New York City, Guys and Dolls is a story full of bold characters, unexpected love, high-stakes bets, and heartfelt transformation. But beneath the flashy suits, showgirls, and dice games, this musical is about something much deeper, what it means to truly change, to take a risk on love, and to choose something bigger than yourself.

At its heart, Guys and Dolls Jr. is about people stepping outside of what’s expected and daring to imagine something better, for themselves and for each other. Whether it’s Sky learning to care more about people than odds, or Sarah discovering the value of vulnerability, these characters remind us that real connection often requires a leap of faith.

In just one fast-paced week, this talented group of young artists brought Guys and Dolls Jr. to life with remarkable dedication, energy, and heart.To the amazing Guys and Dolls Jr. cast: your energy, courage, and commitment to storytelling have inspired us all.We can’t wait to see you shine on stage!

To the incredible Guys and Dolls Jr. Team: This show could not have come to life without your tireless dedication and creative spirit. Molly, Courtney, Margaret, Elizabeth, Isaiah, and Gennie, thank you for pouring your heart and talent into every moment. I truly couldn’t ask for a better team. A huge thank you to our amazing Production Coordinator, Kari, whose support has guided us every step of the way. We were also lucky to welcome two fantastic additions this week: our Camp Nurse, Sarah, and our Game Master, Gavin, which gave so much of themselves to make sure their camp was safe and fun. To all of these wonderful humans, and to our brilliant First Act Leadership Team and Board, thank you for making productions like this not just possible, but joyful. With heartfelt gratitude, thank you, thank you, thank you!

To the parents and families: Thank you for trusting us with your young artists and supporting them through this unforgettable week AND for the hours upon hours you have served on your committee to help us bring this show to life!

I hope you walk away not only humming Frank Loesser’s timeless tunes, but also reflecting on the power of change, community, and compassion. We all have the capacity to grow, to surprise each other, and to find belonging in the most unlikely places.

Praying with Hope for the Future

At First Act Theatre Arts, we are excited and prayerfully looking forward, with abundant hope, that our next home is becoming a reality. Throughout the next year of our Capital Campaign, it is imperative that we make this journey rooted in Christ and the purposes created for us.

High School Musical Jr. Director’s Letter

First Act’s Middle School Overnight Camp is always my favorite week of the summer. When I heard that High School Musical Jr. was our show this year, somehow my excitement for this week grew exponentially. My first camp experience with First Act was a High School Musical summer camp when I was five years old, and I cannot comprehend that I am now directing the musical with the same organization!

Nine to Five Director’s Letter

Before the 9 to 5 movie and musical we know and love, there was a movement that inspired both. 9to5 is an organization created in 1973 by clerical workers to respond to the inequities, unfairness, and outright harassment and discrimination they were experiencing in the workplace. These courageous, tenacious, and fierce women organized and banded together to advocate for themselves and for a better future for working women. 9to5 still exists today, fighting every day for equal wages, paid family leave, and a harassment-free workplace. Their work continues to advance racial and gender justice through community-led advocacy as they seek widespread, long-lasting change.
