Puffs! is a 90 minute Kansas City area theater acting class for ages 12-18. This KC metro theater class in Overland Park helps young performers build acting skills while making new friends!
In this production-style theatre class for ages 12–18, young actors will bring the story of Puffs! to life through acting, ensemble work, and comedic timing. Students will explore scenes, character arcs, and humorous moments from the play, learning how to develop memorable characters, master stage presence, and collaborate as a team in a lively, supportive environment. Memorization and rehearsal are part of the experience, but the focus is on creativity, collaboration, and enjoying the magic of live theatre. The semester wraps up with an exciting showcase where campers will perform the full stage adaptation for friends and family.
All About Puffs!:
This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). What age does my student need to be to attend Puffs?
Puffs! Class is for students ages 12-18.
What should my child wear to theater class?
We encourage comfortable dance and play-friendly clothing for each class. Please encourage your kids to wear shoes with a back of some kind (please no flip flops). Tennis shoes are preferred.
What should my child bring to theater class?
Students should bring a water bottle, a healthy snack, and any other materials requested by the teacher.
What if my child doesn’t know anyone?
We encourage a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere where kids will meet new friends. With plenty of new faces and small class sizes, students quickly feel like they belong and have the opportunity to make friends right away.

2 Classes – $50 Off
3 Classes – $75 Off
4+ Classes – $100 Off
Daytime Academy and Private Acting and Vocal Lessons are excluded from this discount. Discounts will be automatically applied when you enroll online.
While we think our tuition is a great value, we understand that it can be a daunting amount, especially for families that have multiple children in the program. What is your cancellation/refund policy?
You may drop a class through the first week of the class session and receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. After the conclusion of the first class week, no refunds will be given.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer any credits/refunds/make-ups/pro-rated fees for missed days of classes.
Do you have to be a Christian to come to First Act?
No. First Act Theatre Arts holds to Christian values of family, community, leadership, and positive encouragement. We welcome all kids of varying faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs.
What if my child has a disability?
First Act Theatre Arts openly welcomes children with disabilities. Further, First Act proudly offers our HEART program (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theatre). Please let us know what we can do to help! Before classes begin, you will want to fill out the HEART application and support form. First Act will work with you to assist your child. Please give us as much information as possible so we can make your child’s experience successful.
